State of the Nation 2026 – The Salvation Army’s Social Report Card

Every February for the past 19 years, The Salvation Army's Social Policy and Parliamentary Unit has released a State of the Nation report painting an independent picture of the wellbeing of the most vulnerable in our community.

Te Pā Harakeke o Tauranga Moana Hui

Last month, the whānau of Te Pā Harakeke o Tauranga Moana gathered at The Kollective for a hui full of whakawhanaungatanga, shared kai, and kōrero from amazing Māori community organisations. CAB Welfare Report Mana Āki

This excellent report highlights the impacts of recent policy changes, including sanctions, a traffic light compliance system, tighter emergency housing criteria and reduced community funding. These shifts have increased hardship, particularly for people already facing vulnerability due to low income, disability, health challenges or housing insecurity.
