Updated Neurodiversity Support Services Guide Supports Local Connections
The Neurodiversity Support Services Guide for the Western Bay of Plenty has recently been updated, providing a current and practical resource for people working in the social, health and education sectors.
Originally compiled in June 2024 as a joint project between SociaLink and Spectrum Collective Takiwātanga, the guide was developed to help professionals navigate the wide range of services available for neurodivergent people and their whānau.
With increasing demand for information and support around neurodiversity, including autism, ADHD and related needs, the guide serves as a starting point for those seeking to connect individuals and families with appropriate services and programmes.
The guide brings together providers from across the Western Bay of Plenty and beyond, covering a broad range of supports including:
- Assessment and diagnosis
- Education and learning support
- Whānau support services
- Behaviour support
- Life skills development
- Mentoring
- Respite care
- Financial assistance
- Peer support and community connections
It is designed to be a practical tool for practitioners, community organisations, schools, health providers and others supporting neurodiverse tamariki, rangatahi and adults.
The guide also reflects the collaborative spirit of Spectrum Collective Takiwātanga, a network of organisations and professionals who work together to support neurodivergent individuals and their whānau. Through information sharing, relationship building and collective action, the group helps strengthen community understanding and improve pathways to support.
Ngā mihi to all neurodivergent people, whānau, advocates and allies across the Western Bay of Plenty who contribute to making our communities more understanding, inclusive and supportive.
We welcome additions and updates to ensure the directory remains as useful and comprehensive as possible. If you would like your programme, service or organisation included in a future update, please contact info@socialink.org.nz.
