Wednesday was a day of peace. I’d been feeling a bit stressed about: my workload, my family, and the fact that I would be spending a whole day with the team on a marae, learning about stuff I’d studied often already. What happened was very far from that initial feeling. Time out with intelligent people in a peaceful environment feeds the soul. Leaving the hurly burly of traffic and deadlines is so refreshing. And going over old ground with different people provides new and different perspectives. The stories surrounding us depicted a different way of living with history that I didn’t know about. And the discussions on Te Tiriti outlined to me that there are many perspectives and ‘new to me’ insights. When I look back I remind myself that there are many benefits gained from ‘hangin’ with the team.
